Buyer’s Tip!
When buying a new carpet, it is advised to pay attention to the carpet’s thread, thickness, the density of the knots, stains,
inflammability, and the fading of the carpet. It is a good idea to choose felt-based carpets because they provide isolation
from heat and sound.
Steps
1.
Measuring the floor: We can use a tape-measure to measure the area that we will install the carpeting on.
2.
Cutting the carpet: Let’s unroll the carpet after measuring the floor. We can unroll it in another room, if we need more space. In order to cut
the carpet, it is a good idea to put a straightedge on the carpet and cut it with the utility knife or the hooked carpet knife
leaving 10 cm extra on all four sides.
3.
Cutting extra pieces on the sides: Let’s lay the cut carpet inside the room where it will be installed. We should cut the extra pieces on the corners with a
hooked carpet knife or a utility knife. For larger rooms, it is advised to use a stretcher, to straighten out the wrinkles
of the carpet.
4.
Preparing to install the baseboards: Let’s make a hole on the base under the baseboard with a drill and screw it onto the wall via battery screwer (on concrete
walls it is drilled and screwed with a wall plug).
