Praktiker Group started its expansion offensive 2007 with the opening of new home improvement and DIY stores in Poland and Romania. Overall, the international portfolio of Praktiker is to be extended by 15 to 20 locations in seven countries this year.

 

In the Polish city of Rzeszow, a store taken over from a local owner was remodeled and converted to the Praktiker assortment. This DIY store with a selling space of around 7,000 sqm has been officially operating under the Praktiker brand since late March. Two new store openings in Rybnik and Grudziadz are to follow this summer. This will take the total number of Praktiker outlets in Poland to 20 this year and significantly strengthen the presence of Praktiker in this highly competitive market. 

 

On 13 April, Praktiker consolidated its market leadership in Romania with the grand opening of another home improvement and DIY center in Galati. This is the 17^th Praktiker store in the new EU member country and also the first one that is not leased but purchased. In the medium term, Praktiker Group plans to extend its Romanian outlet network to more than 30 locations and be represented in all major cities with more than 120,000 inhabitants.
